The Heritage Audio Grandchild is a two-slot 500 Series stereo Vari-Mu tube compressor built around four NOS 6BA6 (5749) tubes and three custom transformers. It brings Fairchild-style gain reduction into a lunchbox format with Input Gain, AC Threshold, five Attack/Release times, and a DC Threshold that sets ratio and knee together.
Controls
A summed stereo detector keeps left and right gain reduction locked so the image stays stable. A three-position high-pass sidechain filter reduces low-frequency pumping. The VU meter shows gain reduction and also the Active / Bypass / Off status from across the room.
