Audient ASP800 8-Channel Microphone Preamplifier and ADC with HMX and IRON
The Audient ASP800 is a professional 8-channel microphone preamplifier and ADC designed for studios and live sound environments that demand pristine capture with flexible tonal shaping. Combining eight high-performance Class-A mic preamps with Audient’s signature HMX harmonic enhancement and IRON saturation circuitry, the ASP800 delivers transparent audio when you need accuracy and rich analog character when you want color. With high-resolution digital conversion and expandable connectivity, ASP800 is a powerful front end for modern recording systems.
HMX Harmonic Enhancement for Musical Warmth
HMX harmonic enhancement allows subtle, musical tone shaping by generating harmonics related to the original signal. This process adds perceived warmth, density, and presence without sacrificing clarity. With continuously variable HMX control on the dedicated Retro channels, you can fine-tune the harmonic content of vocals, guitars, drums, and keyboards to sit perfectly in a mix.
IRON Saturation for Vintage Character
IRON circuitry introduces transformer-style saturation inspired by classic vintage preamps. By generating even-order harmonics and gentle compression, IRON adds depth and weight that can range from barely noticeable coloration to bold analog character. Adjustable per channel, IRON lets you dial in exactly the amount of vintage flavor needed for your source.
Eight Premium Class-A Mic Preamps
At its core, the ASP800 features eight Class-A microphone preamplifiers delivering up to 70 dB of clean gain with ultra-low noise and high headroom. Each channel includes switchable phantom power, polarity reverse, and pad options, making the unit versatile enough for anything from delicate condenser microphones to high-output dynamic sources. Combo XLR and TRS inputs provide flexible connection for mic and line-level signals.
High-Resolution Digital Conversion and Expansion
ASP800 uses Burr-Brown PCM4202 ADCs to deliver detailed, accurate conversion with up to 116 dB dynamic range. ADAT outputs with SMUX support enable operation at sample rates up to 96 kHz, making it easy to integrate with modern audio interfaces. An optional Dante expansion slot allows the ASP800 to connect directly to Dante-enabled networks, mixers, and audio systems over Ethernet for large-scale studio or live applications.
Built for Professional Studios and Live Use
With balanced DB25 analog outputs, dual JFET instrument inputs, and a fanless linear power supply for quiet operation, ASP800 is engineered for reliability in demanding environments. Its robust metal chassis and global power support ensure dependable performance whether installed in a control room, mobile rig, or live sound rack.
