With a particularly successful reproduction of the famous flat-top classic SJ-200 from the pre-war era, manufacturer Gibson has succeeded in creating an absolutely authentic masterpiece that presents not only the materials but also the multifaceted look of a model from the late 1930s. Thanks to the thermal treatment of the high-quality woods, the completely hand-built, fully solid super jumbo western guitar produces a perfectly distinctive sound that gives the impression of being a genuine relic from days long gone. The comfortable playability of the flat neck is also a subtle indication of the manufacturer's great craftsmanship and decades of experience. The scope of delivery of the Gibson Prewar SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged Vintage Sunburst includes a shaped case and a Gibson accessory kit.
Fast response thanks to a torrefied spruce topSpruce wood has long been in great demand for the construction of the finest musical instruments. Due to its coarse structure, the top of this model has a very powerful vibration behaviour, which enriches the sound with fullness in the mid and treble frequencies. Thanks to a thermo treatment, the sound develops very quickly and extensively, so that it gains additional strength and brilliance in combination with a wafer-thin nitro lacquer finish and Scalloped X bracing. Thanks to a cream-colored Multi Ply binding and a corresponding soundhole rosette create a subtle visual contrast that discreetly delineates the top wood and emphasises the grain. In combination with the vintage sunburst finish, which is given an artfully aged look in the MurphyLAB, the Gibson Prewar SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged Vintage Sunburst is given a venerable touch that does full justice to the original.
Rosewood body for powerful and defined bassesThe name Super Jumbo because of its large body, which is not only decisive for a breathtaking sound volume, but also responsible for expressive and warm basses. The body made of coarsely textured rosewood ensures particularly clear development of the bass frequencies, gently coloring the sound of the Gibson Prewar SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged Vintage Sunburst and enriching the bright frequencies of the top with a fine saturation. The thin finish gives the viewer a deep insight into the extraordinary grain of the dark tropical wood, which perfectly matches the dark edges of the colored top. The back and sides are also clearly separated from each other by an eye-catching binding. The opened back is also crossed by an elaborate backstripe, which emphasizes the symmetry of the wood structure in a very aesthetic way.
Maple neck in sunburst finishThanks to a flat D-profile and a nut width of 43.8 mm, the two-piece maple neck up to the highest of the 20 frets allows clean fingering with little effort. The deep black fingerboard edged with bindings, ebony fingerboard offers plenty of space to easily master even complex fingerings. In addition, it is historically correct with high-quality MOP graduated crown inlays, which mark the frets and emphasise the value of the instrument. A nut and a bone bridge inlay ensure clean intonation over the entire 647.7 mm scale length and, with their finely coordinated workmanship, make it clear that the Gibson Custom Shop is still hard to beat in terms of quality and know-how. The neck is crowned with the characteristic headstock, which fills fans all over the world with awe and is a unique trademark of Gibson guitars of all generations.
Great attention to detailThe guitar is particularly authentic thanks to its detailed ornamentation and original fittings. The headstock is fitted with golden Grover Imperials tuners, which guarantee precise and light-footed tuning in addition to their elegant appearance. The old logo inlay and the fine headstock binding harmonise perfectly with the bell-shaped truss rod cover and illustrate how much love the manufacturer put into the details even back then. Further highlights include the four-bar mustache bridge and the large tortoise pickguard engraved with floral ornaments, which is decorated with additional blue dots. This premium guitar is rounded off with a shaped case and an accompanying Gibson Accessory Kit.
