Gibson Les Paul Junior

Gibson Les Paul Jr in Tobacco Burst

Although introduced in 1954 as a more affordable option for students and beginners, the Les Paul™ Junior has gained a reputation among seasoned professionals for its raw, unfiltered tone. Its single-cutaway, slab mahogany body delivers punchy midrange and impressive sustain, with a single dogear P-90 delivering biting, articulate sound that responds dynamically to your playing style. With its simplified master volume and tone controls, simplicity is the name of the game—just plug in, dial up your tone, and unleash classic rock, blues, or punk riffs without any fuss.

At the heart of the Les Paul Junior’s design is a mahogany neck with a fat, 50s Vintage profile that gives players a substantial yet comfortable feel perfect for everything from big chordal strums to intricate lead work. The 22-fret rosewood fingerboard has a 12” radius, making string bends smooth and fretting easy at every position. A Wraparound bridge anchors the strings, ensuring rock-solid intonation and sustain despite its no-frills aesthetic. Together with the P-90, this setup delivers tones ranging from warm cleans to crunchy overdrive with just a twist of the volume knob.

True to its heritage, the Les Paul Junior’s minimalist design is a reminder that less really can be more. Its lightweight construction provides a comfortable playing experience, whether you’re jamming at home or hitting the stage for a high-energy set. And while the original was designed with beginners in mind, the modern Les Paul Junior has captured the hearts of countless professionals seeking that signature grit and clarity.

Loaded with vintage charm and workhorse reliability, the iconic Les Paul Junior puts authentic tone and effortless playability above all else, just as it has for nearly 70 years.
