1967 Gibson L-4C Archtop Florentine Hollowbody guitar. "The number of L-4C guitars made since 1960 can probably be counted on one hand. The L-4C is an uncommon guitar." This is an exceptionally rare custom order, off-catalog Gibson. It is known as the more expensive carved-top version of the mass-produced ES-175. It is a total anomaly and a crazy guitar to see Gibson create in the late 60s, because it is technically an acoustic guitar! The artist is intended to use their own choice of free-floating pickup, which they attach to the pick guard. This format of electrifying guitars had long been done away with by Gibson in 1967, which makes this guitar incredibly rare and unusual. The guitar looks to have been kept as a case queen for its 58 years of life. The pick guard has been altered to accept a free floating pickup, which is no longer present. The guitar is phenomenal as an acoustic on its own or mic'd up, but by all means you can attach a floating pickup of your choice to either the end of the fretboard or the pick guard.
Incredible value for the price of a brand new regular Gibson Custom Shop guitar in 2025.
