Fender USA Fullerton Lead II 1980 - Trans-Blonde re-fin with OHSC
Hi, here's a fun blast from Fender's past. She's a 1980, Lead II, with a brace of original Fender X-1 hot pickups. This guitar was made in the old Fullerton, Ca. plant back in 1980, and was refinished a decade or so later. The refinish job was done pretty good in my opinion, and was done in a Transparent Blonde nitro, which allows the beautiful grain of the Northern Ash to show through nicely. There are a few small finish cracks behind the bridge area, headstock face, and neck pocket areas, which is totally to be expected in old Fenders, and are not really visible from a foot or so away, and do not affect the guitar's performance or build quality in any way. The pickups used are the Fender X-1's which was Fender's foray into the hot overwound pickup genre and still sound great after all these years. I replaced the bridge with a new one, as the old bridge's saddles were getting rather edgy, I have included the old bridge for folks that want the original too. An original 1980 era Fender Lead hard-case is provided, and while worn and banged up a bit, still provides good protection overall. The guitar is very light too, coming in at only a skosh over 6.5 lbs., so not a backbreaker at all. Here is a great opportunity to own a piece of USA Fender history from the old Fullerton factory, that still rocks with the best of them. I am liquidating my whole collection little by little. This USA Lead is priced very well, at about what a lot of the newer MIM offerings are going for now, so I think it's a solid value. Thanks for checking her out.
