Les Paul electric guitar in the style of the 1950s

The Gibson Les Paul Standard ‘50s Figured Top Ocean Blue embodies the visual and sonic ideals of the 1950s. Consequently, this electric guitar proves to be the perfect instrument for blues and rock. Whilst the traditional construction features a mahogany body without weight relief, the obligatory maple top and a pleasantly rounded mahogany neck, Gibson Burstbucker pickups deliver top-class tones with an unmistakable vintage character. Last but not least, the Gibson Les Paul Standard is rounded off by hardware that has stood the test of time since the 1950s, featuring a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Vintage Deluxe tuning machines.

Traditionally built Les Paul

The traditional construction of the Les Paul pays particular attention to delivering an authentic playing feel and a natural vintage sound. Beneath the Ocean Blue finish lies a solid mahogany body without weight relief and a maple top, alongside a laminated mahogany neck. The ‘Vintage 50s’ neck profile, with its comfortable rounding, provides the ideal conditions for playing classic blues and rock techniques on the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.

Gibson Burstbucker Pickups

For the Les Paul Standard ’50s guitar, Gibson has chosen a set of the popular Burstbucker pickups, which carry on the legacy of the legendary PAF humbuckers. Fitted with Alnico II magnets and unpaired coils, these pickups coax airy, light vintage tones from the guitar amplifier, featuring a vocal mid-range and lively dynamics that are perfectly suited to the classic styles of blues and rock. The more powerful bridge pickup elicits a harmonic overdrive from the amplifier with just the right amount of punch. The hand-wired circuit, featuring dedicated volume and tone potentiometers for each pickup and ‘Orange Drop’ capacitors, allows for precise tuning of the guitar’s sound.

Vintage-style hardware

Last but not least, Gibson completes the Les Paul Standard '50s Figured Top Ocean Blue with the hardware that has been a staple since the 1950s. The lightweight aluminium stopbar guides the strings over the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, whose adjustment options guarantee precise intonation and a comfortable string action. At the headstock, the strings run over a Graph Tech nut to the precise Vintage Deluxe tuners, which not only keep the electric guitar securely in tune but also enhance the historic look with their single-ring Keystone wings.
