Greer Soma 63 Vintage Preamp

The Greer Soma 63 – Authentic Brown-Era Amp Tone in a Pedal Vintage Amp Feel with Dynamic Tone Control

The Greer Soma 63 Vintage Preamp brings the rich, dynamic tone of classic early-‘60s California brownface amplifiers to your pedalboard. Designed to replicate the entire preamp, phase inverter, and power section of these legendary amps, this pedal delivers the warmth, breakup, and response of vintage 10-inch Utah speakers in a compact, road-ready enclosure.

Steel Core Transformer for True Amp-Like Saturation

A key feature of the Soma 63 is its steel core transformer, which plays a crucial role in shaping its sound. When pushed, especially with higher-output pickups, this transformer naturally saturates, delivering the organic compression and breakup of a cranked vintage amp. Whether used as a preamp or an overdrive, the Soma 63 responds dynamically to pick attack and playing style.

Flexible Power Options for Versatile Response

Running at 9V, the Soma 63 produces more grit and texture, capturing the raw drive of vintage brownface circuits. At 18V, it offers increased headroom, a slightly stiffer feel, and a cleaner, more articulate response. This flexibility allows players to tailor the pedal’s behavior to their rig and playing style.

Wide-Ranging Tone Stack with Presence Control

The Soma 63’s tone stack provides an expansive range of tonal options, while the Presence control shapes the overall circuit response, allowing for subtle adjustments or dramatic shifts in tone. Whether dialing in warm, clean tones or pushing the pedal into full overdrive, this pedal delivers the dynamic character of a well-worn vintage amp.
