Video! PROTOTYPE 1989 Gibson Chet Atkins Tennessean Orange

The Case...
This guitar comes in an era-correct late80s/90s Gibson Brown case w/ pink interior.

The Guitar!
This is a Gibson Original Prototype from 1989 for the Chet Atkins Tennessean model. What makes this prototype interesting is the body proportions are different and the neck joins to the body in a much different area than the production version. There are many other small differences like the Chet Atkins Tennessean silkscreen on the headstock, lack of pickguard and a CRAZY flamed maple neck.

This guitar wasn't stored properly in its previous home and the fretboard shrank which caused the frets to sprout and chip the finish off the side of the neck. If you wanted to seriously gig this instrument, I would suggest having someone file the fretsprout and spray a clear over the edge of the board to make it feel better. I've owned this for about 5 years in stable conditions and it has not gotten worse and honestly feels much better than when I first made this video documentation. You will also need to clean or replace the output jack as it doesn't work too well. There is finish checking on the back of the heel and other signs of wear.   This is a very collectible guitar - it cleaned up well and displays great, but to be a daily player, it certainly will need a little bit of help from a luthier.
