Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a classic rarer 1960's / 70's era Shure Brothers 580SA Dynamic cardioid microphone with excellent sound quality and set at high impedance. The microphone comes with an original cable, mic case and MXL mic clip shown.

The 580SA model mic is a quality Shure product that a bit more affordable than some of the other dynamic cardioid models of that time. As you probably know dynamic cardioid mics made by Shure and E.V were quite expensive so these companies often offered models that were a little easier on the pocket book. The 580SA was one of them but make no mistake...this was a very fine sounding mic.

It was entry level but even entry level from Shure was quality. This 580SA has a strong midcentury vibe and has a bit of size to it. Very aggressive looking and the silver on black is stunning.

Pic # 2 is from a catalog I have showing all of the mics performance characteristics. While this 580SA doesn't have as good a frequency response as the Shure PE54D you'll be pleasantly surprised by how it sounds. This would be ideal for any audio system or Ham radio set up with a high impedance hook up. You can use this with any guitar amp as well. The 580SA lacks bass and is more 'rockabilly" or mid range in nature and the signal strength is very strong. The 580SA was a mic that could be used for general broadcasting, singing and broadcasting with excellent uni-directional characteristics.

This is a very seldom seen Shure Brothers model mic that was only sold for about 5 years or so before being discontinued.

The few 580SA examples I have seen over the years are usually in much rough condition. This one is quite beautiful with virtually no wear and was very gently used. Before you buy a 580SA make sure that the front plastic cover isn't fractured. A big issue with these mics is that previous owners tend to overtighten it causing it to break. Fortunately this one is not fractured.

The satin chrome finish on the handle shows just a couple small scuff marks as seen in the pics provided and has a gorgeous luster even after all these years. The Shure logo that encircles the globe looks fantastic as does the chrome globe being free of any dents, fractures or tarnish. I added a new foam liner / pop filter to the inside of the globe as the old one had completely fell apart and this helps greatly with the sound characteristics. The on / off switch was cleaned and works perfectly.

Like all older microphones from this era the 580SA has issues that need to be addressed and I take care of all that.

This 585SA comes with an original 15 foot attached cable that's in great condition and comes with a quality Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector. The cable is soft and pliable.

The mic clip is a very practical MXL model that grips the mic firmly and looks just as nice as the mic. It fits like a glove and gives the user a wide degree of tilt up and down. It will screw onto any mic stand you have as well.

The original mic case is also included and while it's hardly perfect it's a nice accessory to have an da great place to store the mic when not in use. The inner portion of the case is nicely padded. Typical exterior wear but works great.

You have everything you need. This mic is ready to go. If you demand a 580SA to use for many decades to come that is free of any issues then this example will do you justice.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

Overall I would rate this mic physically an easy 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department and you'll be hard pressed to find one nicer. She's got plenty of life left in her. If you need something that few other musicians or broadcasters have then this 580SA will certainly do.

As with all my vintage microphone and related items...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be immediately relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
