Original vintage TAB Telefunken U74a tube micpre and limiter, serviced, and tested, NOS glass, in excellent working condition!
A bit of a rarity, and not as well known as the v72 and v76 modules, the u74a is essentially a v72 fixed gain microphone preamplifier with output gain controlled by a variable limiter, rather than attenuator. When the limiter is wide open, it functions as a normal micpre, but when turned “down” the limiter kicks in to reduce output. Very cool actually! The more you limit, the squishier, and more distorted and colorful the signal becomes. Awesome as a standalone preamp, or on drum bus, as a line amplifier, or for straight up nasty compression/ limiter duties.
