Gotoh Hot PAF Humbucker - Used By Tokai, Burny, Fernandes, Yamaha, etc... 1980's - 2000's - Double Black Bobbins - Single Humbucker - Made in Japan MIJ

Used Gotoh Hot PAF humbucker - open type humbucker, with double black bobbins in humbucker layout with 1 screw side bobbin and 1 slug side bobbin. Made in Japan MIJ.

I bought this pickups from Japan, not in a guitar, so I can't say what guitar it was removed from, or the age, but Gotoh used these type of baseplates in the mid 80's to the 2000's, and these pickups would have been installed in many Japanese made guitars (Burny, Tokai, Greco, BC Rich, etc...).

I haven't removed the tape around the bobbins on this specific pickup, so I don't know for sure, but based on the thickness of it, I would guess it's alnico and not the double thick ceramic magnets used in the Super Distortion clones. It's really hard to see the magnet down under the bobbins, but when I shine a light on it, it does look metallic in colour (silver) indicating alnico.

The DC resistance measures 8.86k ohms (from ground/shield to the red wire) - so like a hot PAF humbucker.

It's a 2 wire conductor with a ground. The white wire wire would be the split. full humbucking mode would be red to ground/shield.

Each coil measures about 4.42k to 4.43k ohm.

The lead wire is just shy of about 8.5" long for the ground wire, and then about 11.5" for the white and read wires.

The pole spacing is around 54mm, so this is suited for a bridge position with a tremolo style guitar with a wider bridge spacing.

The pickup is in good shape, although there's some slight rusting/corrosion on the pole pieces, but I suspect that could be polished off with some polish/silvo and some elbow grease, and the bobbins have some scuffs/nicks here and there, but it has a vintage patina to it as is.

It doesn't look like it ever had cover installed on it.
