It may sound strange to say, but our favorite J-Basses aren't made by the big "F," they're made by Lakland. Five minutes with this 5-string 55-60 and you'll agree. The extra inch they add to scale on their 5 string model really does make all the difference in the world for the low B ringing out, but that also adds some extra punch for the E-G strings too. Their custom wound pickups are also a big draw; they are vintage in character but also very articulate. Any combo we dialed in sounded amazing. As with all their Skyline basses, it has been fully assembled and set up in Chicago and the frets get the PLEK treatment so you know that it's an easy bass to dial in the lowest action possible. Playability ain't everyone though and yes this beauty has a great vintage look with the mint pickguard really popping off the jet black finish.
