I am selling my 1935 National Estralita guitar. Estralita is Spanish for “Little Star”, the “star” being represented on the 3rd fret inlay. This is an extremely rare instrument. You can search any musical instrument store or website, both in the USA and around the world, and you would be very lucky to find another guitar like this. I have discovered that there are less than 60 original Estralitas known to exist in the world. The serial number of this guitar, as you can see in the photo, is 137. So far, the lowest serial number found is 003 and the highest is 151. It is assumed that maybe 200 / 250 original Estralita models were ever built. The serial number, red decal, chicken foot cover-plate and standard National tailpiece indicate the date of manufacture. It is what dealers would call "a peach!”. Nothing has been added, nothing has been hidden. Now for the sound! The only word I can use to describe the sound of this guitar is incredible. The Estralita is a totally different guitar than any other wood-bodied National. It has a bigger and deeper body size, and the 2mm sides and back make a huge difference in the tone. When I first played this Estralita I couldn’t believe the sound. It resonates with a bell like tone and sustain, but with a warmth that I have never encountered in any other instrument. The Estralita has been re-issued because of its legendary sound, but as usual the re-issue is a fine guitar, but it doesn’t come close to achieving the sound of the original 1935 Estralita.
