Here we have a 1982 transitional EGF-1600. These are rarer than EGF-1200’s that, if you’re reading this, you know of.

This is Greco’s copy of Neil Shon’s (Journey) modified Gibson Limited Edition guitar.

After seeing all the copies (like this one) and interest, Gibson then responded by releasing their Japan only Super Custom in the spring of 1984. Copy of a copy lol.

Specs:

- 5-piece maple/walnut/maple/walnut/maple neck.

- Nice hefty neck profile!

- nut width 44mm

- depth at 1st: .93” - 1.05” at 12th fret

- Flame maple veneer on top, back and sides

- Solid mahogany body

- Gold Hardware

- Dry-Z pickups (one covered and one open zebra copying Neal’s mod

- Ebony Fretboard 

- Real mother of pearl inlays

- Original knobs were replaced before we owned the guitar but can be easily found from Japan.

When we received this guitar it had some seperation on the veneer sides and some cracks in the finish & veneer on top. We brought it to the well known luthier Doug MacCormack and his team at The Guitar Techs in Manchester, NH and he personally filled the cracks with epoxy which would prevent moisture from getting in and further cracking. We invested a good amount into it because this guitar is worth being saved for future generations.
