1954 Gibson GA-40 Les Paul Model tube amp in excellent condition and just serviced!

Dual 6V6GT output coming in at about 14-ish watts and pushing air out of the original Jensen P12Q (which has been reconed in the past). It really sounds phenomenal, this little fire-breather. It’s reminiscent of a Fender tweed amp, but not really. Rich harmonic overtones in the breakup, a little thicker maybe but definitely not darker. Not piercing, just incredibly pleasing and a blast to play. Tremolo is a nice feature with a footswitch (also original) that is hard-wired. These are incredibly fun amps with immense recording potential, not to mention a great partner to that prized original Les Paul guitar!

Very fine condition with routine servicing, including filter capacitors and new 3-prong cable. Original transformers. The handle is original but is split, but it presents very well and it’s not exactly a heavy amp to carry around like a baby, so it’s been left this way. You could replace it with something that would restore functionality to carrying it the proper way, but none of them look right and you’ve need to find an original if you wanted it to be really right. The tubes are all original, which is a nice little bonus. The tremolo sounds good but it’s not mind-blowing — the speed settings aren’t a whole lot different from each other (slow/medium/fast) but that’s by design. The chassis isn’t all pitted out like a lot of these you see. Again, this is a very fine specimen! I think you’ll really love it.
