Here is a 1966 Kay made electric guitar that might be one of their Vanguard models. The guitar has been repainted and the logo is covered so I don't know of this one originally had a Kay logo or an Old Kraftsman logo like you see on a lot of these. It has two 'pancake' pickups and a tremelo tailpiece (missing arm). The pots have late 1965 date codes and one of the pickups has what may be some kind of 1966 date code on the bottom so I assume it was made around this time. The refinish isn't TOO bad for an older amateur job. It's a pretty blue color that looks a lot like Fender's Lake Placid Blue. It has some darker spots and overspray here and there on the screws and parts, but overall it's very presentable. I'm including plenty of both flash and non-flash photos to help show the color and condition. The neck is straight with good frets and comfortable action. Both pickups work fine and have good output. The bottom end pin is a little loose and may be an old replacement. The guitar is ready to plug in and play, and it even comes with what appears to be the original vinyl gig bag!
