Used Gotoh (Goto) PAF clone - open type humbucker, with double black bobbins and double screw poles. Made in Japan MIJ.
I bought this pickup from Japan, not in a guitar, so I can't say what guitar it was removed from, it could have been aftermarket, but this era of Gotoh pickups were often used by Tokai, Burny, Fresher, and probably many other Japanese guitar manufacturers in the late 70's and early 80's.
Based on the "Patent Applied For | made by goto" ink stamp on the baseplate, this is the earliest version of Gotoh humbuckers, before the "GOTOH" stamped baseplate style from the early 80's and the later 90's style stamped baseplate.
I haven't removed the tape around the bobbins, but I can see the magnet down through between the bobbins and the tape, and I can see that it's dark (not metallic) and it's not conductive when I place a multimeter onto it, so it appears to be ceramic magnets.
The DC resistance measures 8.6K ohms.
The pickup wire is grey and has 2 conductor leads (signal and ground), and is about 14.5" long - so more than enough length for nearly every application.
The pole spacing is around 47mm, so I'm guessing this would be for the neck position.
It doesn't look like it ever had a cover installed (although this era of Gotoh's didn't have the covers soldered on sometimes).
If you're looking to add a vintage Japanese made humbucker to your guitar, grab this today.
