About This Listing

Hand-made double bass by Andrew Brown of Hyattsville, Maryland.

This is an enlarged copy of the 1878 Milanese bass by Enrico Bajoni I owned several years ago. It has been a great player for my gigs since completion in 2019, with a huge bass and pure yet complex tone when bowing. The model compared very favorably to the original instrument, which made its way back to Maryland with a BSO player a couple of years ago.

Materials: Book-matched Alpine spruce (picea abies) top from the Eggental Valley of South Tirol, Italy. Italian black poplar (populus nigra) figured, flat back, plain sides and neck, from the Po Valley. Premium ebony fingerboard, tailpiece and endpin plug. Handmade brass and stainless steel tuning machines by Andrew Brown. Shellac finish.
