1973 Fender Stratocaster

Another nice find! The neck and three screw neck plate date this guitar to 1973. We have looked at the electronics to tie it all together. It appears that in the late ‘70’s, early 80’s someone decided to “upgrade” the guitar and installed new pickups and pots. They date ‘78-‘82 range (still in that vintage period). It was apparently refinished at the same time with a Candy Apple red. We cleaned, and tested the electronics, and cleaned and crowned the frets and board. The neck has some normal play wear and the frets are in shape for future play. She does play like a dream (well broken in) and the 5 way allows for the full range of tone you’d expect from a Strat of this era. The finish is well done and very clean (outside of a couple of minor blemishes and a ding or two from normal use). Pickguard, knobs, tuners and other hardware look to be original. The pickup chamber was chipped out some along the way. Looks like they either had planned on adding a humbucker or wanted to reduce the weight a bit-maybe both. It is none the worse for wear and has no effect on the current setup, appearance, or play. A great comfortable player. A unique plug and play vintage strat.
