About this listing
Vintage USA Fender Stratocaster – 1977–1978 – Black – CBS Era – Serial S779270A genuine vintage USA-made Fender Stratocaster from the late-1970s CBS era, offered with fitted hard case, Fender strap, tremolo arm and retained accessories.Serial number: S779270Dating to approximately 1977–1978, this is the real vintage American instrument — not a modern reissue or reproduction.Finished in classic Black with a rosewood fingerboard, it has the unmistakable late-CBS Fender look: large Stratocaster headstock, maple neck, Fender “F” tuners and the distinctive three-bolt Micro-Tilt neck system. The Fender three-bolt neck plate is stamped:FENDER MICRO-NECK-ADJUST PAT. 3550496For a buyer looking for a vintage Strat with genuine age, presence and character rather than a pristine modern guitar, this is a particularly striking example.NEARLY 50 YEARS OF GENUINE VINTAGE CHARACTERThis guitar has the kind of appearance that simply cannot be recreated by a new instrument. The black gloss finish shows extensive playing and age-related wear, including scratches, marks and finish wear. The hardware displays oxidation, patina and corrosion accumulated over decades.Nothing has been polished or cosmetically restored by the current seller simply to make the guitar look newer for sale.It is being presented honestly and exactly as photographed. The wear is part of the instrument's history and gives this Stratocaster enormous vintage character. If you want a flawless modern Stratocaster, this probably isn't the guitar for you.If you want an authentic late-1970s USA Fender that actually looks and feels like a nearly 50-year-old instrument, this one deserves serious consideration.IMPORTANT MODIFICATION DISCLOSUREThe guitar has been modified during its life and currently carries a non-stock cream bridge pickup. It is therefore not being represented as a completely factory-original example, and the asking price reflects that distinction. The concealed pickup routing, pots, wiring, switch and other internal components have not been dismantled solely to prepare this listing. No unsupported claims are being made regarding components that have not been internally authenticated.I would rather disclose that clearly now than make assumptions about the guitar's unseen components. Please study the extensive photographs carefully — they are deliberately detailed and form part of the description.COMPLETE PACKAGE INCLUDEDThe successful buyer receives:Vintage USA Fender Stratocaster S779270Fitted hard case shown in the photographsFender-branded strapTremolo armRetained loose knobs, hardware and components shown in the photographsEverything pictured as part of the package stays with the guitar. The fitted case has considerable age and character of its own.
