About This Listing

Nice 1964 Pre-CBS Fender Musicmaster - a cool vintage player!

Players like Mickey "Dean Ween" Melchiondo of Ween, Dweezil Zappa and Liz Phair - even Jimi Hendrix early in his career - played these great guitars.
And this for good reason - this guitar sounds amazing ... funky, light and with a bell like tone ... all you would expect from a Fender pre CBS!

The guitar is in very good condition, with a sonic blue refinish. The finish of the neck is original. All parts are original.

The original pickup sounds very nice and works perfect. The guitar weighs 2.7 kg and plays fantastically with a staight neck and a low action.

It comes in the original case, which is in a good condition.

If you're looking for an awesome piece from Fender's most desirable era, be sure not to miss out on this one!

Satisfaction guaranteed.

Product Overview

The Fender Musicmaster II was a short-lived transitional model during the CBS takeover that featured the same design as the original Musicmaster (a 3/4 scale student model introduced in 1956) but with a regular 25.5" scale length.

It was only offered with one single coil pickup at the neck from the factory. Specimens are often seen with bridge pickups, however, as this is a popular model to modify.

Years of Production: 1964 - 1969

Finish Specifications: Olympic White is more desirable than Dakota Red.

Unique to this Year: 1966 is often recognized as the first full year of CBS-controlled production, though CBS bought the company in January of '65.
