What an Active DI Does, Times Two

The J48 Stereo does all three on two independent channels, so a stereo source or two separate instruments each get their own full-featured active DI in a single box, with nothing shared and nothing compromised.

Phantom Power and 9 Volts of Headroom

Here is the engineering that defines the J48. Rather than run on a battery or a single low rail, it uses a digital switching power supply that converts incoming 48V phantom and lifts the internal operating rail from a typical 3 volts to a full 9 volts. That extra headroom matters because active basses and synths can throw peaks that clip a lesser DI into crackle. The J48 Stereo's elevated rail absorbs those transients whole, so even the hottest active source stays clean, punchy, and distortion-free, measuring just 0.002% THD.

220 Kilohms of Input, Full Detail Preserved

Each channel presents a very high 220 kilohm input impedance, and that number does real work. A high input impedance lets low-output active and passive pickups deliver their full harmonic detail and low-end weight instead of being loaded down and dulled. On keyboards and synths it takes a line-level output cleanly; on an acoustic-electric or a bass it flatters the pickup rather than choking it. The result is a signal that reaches the console with its clarity and attack intact.

The Control Set on Every Channel

Both channels carry the full J48 tool kit. A 15dB pad tames the hottest active pickups so nothing overloads the input. A 180-degree polarity switch flips phase to lock the DI in with a close mic or a second box. An 80Hz high-pass filter rolls stage rumble and low-end mud off before it hits the console. And an in-circuit ground lift disconnects pin 1 at the XLR to break the loop and kill 60-cycle hum, all without cutting off the phantom power the active circuit needs to run.

In and Thru: Feed the Console and the Stage

Each channel provides both a 1/4-inch input and a 1/4-inch thru jack. The thru passes the same signal straight to an onstage amp or monitor while the balanced XLR runs to front of house, so a bassist or keyboardist keeps a stage rig and still delivers a clean feed to the board. With two channels, a full stereo keyboard reaches two console inputs while both amps stay live.
