Guild lovers and collectors, here is one you won't see again. It is the one and only Guild Baritone Uke made with a Spruce top. This was made in the Hoboken, NJ facility by Carlo Greco at the time he worked for Guild. It is the only one ever made with a Spruce top.
I picked it up not because I'm a Uke player, I am not. It was just a unique one of a kind piece and I thought I should have it. The time has come to lighten up on the number of acoustic instruments so I offer this up for your consideration.
It comes with a fair amount of paperwork including an estimate of value from Spruce Tree Music and Repair in Madison Wisconsin (my home state-Go Badgers). It also has a letter from the original owner, Bill Bishop, to Carlo Greco asking him to confirm that he had built the guitar and that it was the only one ever made with a Spruce top. Carlo Greco did respond and did confirm all that and also added several comments of his own. All the paperwork will be included with the sale.
Comes with the OHSC that still works fine. The Uke is actually in excellent condition although to play it safe I called it very good. There is minimal to no fret wear. There is one very small crack from the bottom of the neck to the soundhole likely caused by shrinkage. The Spruce top is very cool. I'm not sure you can see it in the pics but it almost looks like bearclaw and if not that, at least some very cool figured Spruce.
I'm hoping someone from the Guild community buys this piece of history but if not it's available for sale here on Reverb to any interested party.
I ship USPS Priority Mail insured for the selling price for a flat rate $50 to anywhere in the lower 48 U.S. States
