Thanks for checking out this beautiful SS Stewart archtop! This US made WW2 era guitar is in great shape for its age! The checking and patina are perfectly fitting and not flaking at all. The decorative binding is in perfect shape. The tuners are original and work well. The body and the back of the neck has some wear in all the right places, but there are no cracks in the body. The pickguard was broken and had disintegrated some, so I took it off. The remains are included. The action is a little high at the twelfth fret, but is playable. There is a slight forward pull on the neck that causes the high E string to buzz out starting at the 15th fret. It has never been an issue for me- the non-cutaway body really prevents your ability to play much higher than a G major scale at the 15th fret anyway. I took the adjustment screws out and used shorter dowels to lower and hold the bridge in place, but the original adjustment screws and posts are also included. At the heel, there is a slight gap between the heel and the body- you could squeeze a piece of paper 1/2 an inch under the heel. It is hardly noticeable, but you can see light through. This gap has not gotten worse in since I got it, but it is probably the cause of the string buzz above the 15th fret. The guitar is 75 years old, but it has a lot of life and a great sound! Pictured chipboard case is also included.
