"The original Peavey Tracer model was introduced in 1988. The models in the Peavey Tracer Series that came after the first model were made to compete with the popular Charvel/Jackson, Ibanez and Kramer guitars in the hard-rock genre. The main features are poplar bodies, an (allegedly) Schaller 2 in 1 humbucking pickup and bilaminated rock maple necks using Peavey's patented bilamination construction to prevent twisting and warping. All models were manufactured in the USA.
The first Peavey Tracer had one 12 pole humbucker, a 25.5 inch scale neck, 22 frets, a 12 inch maple fingerboard radius and the Peavey powerbend tremolo. In 1991 the second version of the Peavey Tracer was released and was upgraded with two Peavey single coils to complete the one humbucker. The scale of the neck was changed to 24.75 inch and it also had 24 frets.
Before the second version of the original Tracer, there was also the Peavey Tracer II. This Tracer had an HS pickup configuration but kept the 25.5 inch scale and 22 frets. The fingerboard radius changed from 12 inch to 15 inch. The same goes for the Peavey Tracer II 89 except that this version had the 24.75 inch scale and 24 frets. "
