Selling my 1980 Alvarez Yairi DY75.
This is a wonderful guitar and is everything you’d expect from a vintage Yairi guitar.
The top is spruce and the back is laminated rosewood. The guitar plays easy and the action is great up the neck. The sound is warm and articulate and sounds like a guitar that has been been well played-in. This is a quality Yairi guitar with details usually found on pricier guitars; like maple binding and nicely grained rosewood. All parts, including the tuners are original. These Yairi’s are proof that it’s possible to get a great sound with laminated back and sides.
I am listing the guitar as in good condition. It is NOT collector grade. It is a guitar that was played. There are several dings and scratches on the guitar. None of them are cracks and all are just on the surface. There are no cracks on this guitar. I’ve taken pics of the most noticeable ones. Please check the photos for the condition.
When I got the guitar the neck heel was separating from the main piece of the neck. You can see in the photos that the neck is not a solid piece of wood. The joint was professionally repaired by a luthier and is stable with no issues at all. Please note, the issue was not with the neck joint where it joins the body.
I also have a decent 3rd party hardshell case. It’s not an Alvarez case, and one of the latches is broken, but it keeps the guitar protected.
The guitar was humidified in the winter and comes from a smoke-free home.
They really are great guitars and a great way to own a vintage guitar without paying astronomical prices.
