Here we have a very fine player of an early 1963 Rickenbacker model 425 guitar. The pots are dated 1376147 or the 47th. week of 1961. The owner of the guitar decided to refinish it a long time ago and did a fairly good job that looks almost original. The older repainted finish looks overall very good but has some flaking, a few dings, and a scratch here and there as seen in the pictures. The original thin frets are in great shape with very light wear and hard to see slight pitting in just a few frets.

All set up with .10-.46 Ernie Ball strings the guitar is a ringer! Nice and loud not even plugged in!
Screams through an amp and is nice and lightweight with easy playing action just fun to play!
The headstock white truss rod cover has no logo and some extra screw holes were added I am not sure why. I would replace the truss rod cover with one with logo and if your patient you can find one online. It would look much better.There is a hard to see extra strap pin hole but both original pins remain.
Original silver hard case is in very good shape for it's age with all latches and hinges working just fine.

3 summers ago we sold 35 pieces to the movie set of Bill & Teds Most Excellent Adventure 'Face the Music'! with Keanu Reeves.
Lot's of guitars, amplifiers, rack gear, they wanted a lot of stuff with LOTS of KNOBS!!
We did another movie bit last fall in a film called 'Miracle in Motor City'
starring Smokey Robinson. Our shop had a 15 minute scene in that movie
on the Lifetime channel last November 28th and it ran through Xmas day.
It might be showing again this Holiday Season?!
