A great find for acoustic collectors! Extremely rare and an extremely well built workhorse with wonderful full bodied tone. Incredible projection and volume. Straight as an arrow too, no issues at all. The top is flat as a board and the bridge is perfectly flush with the top. Plays as good as any guitar can and has shockingly low action for a 12, it practically plays itself. Top is ever so slightly sunken in but action and play is still great. Could probably use some tlc under the top with reinforcement bit plays great! Price dropped from 900 reflects this work needed but honestly it plays fine as is.
New saddle With professional setup. 2022. Dunlop Lemon oiled neck, New set of strings, truss rod and saddle adjustment, etc. The works. This vintage instrument is a true survivor. An original from the vintage era. The brand had gone belly up decades ago and was purchased by a Canadian manufacturing company who picked the line back up recently. The reason they invested in this amazing brand again is because these were at one time very fine instruments and many people still know how great the prestige line is. Those who know, know. An amazing guitar that rivals any other top tier manufacturer. just look them up, these are top tier, hand made instruments.
Vintage vibe: Beautiful patina, worn in all the right places. Lovely aged deep orange wood tones, killer faded yellowed binding, unique saddle/bridge and beautiful brown swirled tortoise pickguard. No cracks.. Hi res, detailed pictures tell the whole story so please take a look.
The brand new Prestige eclipse acoustic guitar goes for about $1700 and their flagships even more. $1200 is a steal for this solid 12 string and you may never see one again they are so rare.
Open to trades of any kind for recording studio equipment or other instruments. There is no serial number that I can date this instrument but if I had to guess, based on the oxidation on the tuners, the yellowed faded binding, the deep oranging of the top and the dark aged top nut, I would say late 60s or early 70s (comparing these items to gibsons, Gretschs, fenders etc that we have here with similar tells). It has a new saddle in the original bridge and brand new D’Adarrio light strings (Jan 2023) with full setup. Low action, maybe a bit too low for my taste but we’ll leave the setup for you when you get it.
THE TONE:
The instrument sounds absolutely incredible. Huge and boomy, clear and detailed. The guitar plays very well but could eventually use a professional setup but has no issues and no inherent flaws to speak of. The action is very low (probably a bit too low?) with these light strings on it but I am no luthier so I leave it the buyer. Saddle screws raise and lower each side similarly to the tuneomatic bridge on a Gibson. A fantastic vintage collectors instrument. sold as is please, no returns on any vintage guitars.
