This Greco SA-550W was manufactured in Japan at the legendary Fujigen-Gakki factory in December 1978. It is a stunningly close recreation of a 1970's Gibson ES-335, hence the lawsuit designation. From the open book headstock, Gibson style script logo, double ring Kluson style tuners and walnut stain finish, you'd be hard pressed to tell this apart from the original on stage. The body is a semi hollow with a block under the bridge and another around the neck pickup. I believe the rest is hollow and is close to an ES-330 in body construction. The neck is 3 piece maple with a rosewood fingerboard and I believe the body may be birch or maple. The nut width measures at 43.5 mm (1 11/16) and the neck is a slim "C" profile. Weight is 7.2 lbs. This SA is warm, woody and resonant acoustically. Amplified, the neck pick is rich, fat and wooly while the bridge pickup is nice and snarky with good bite. This Greco is in good condition for it's age with a few small dings, light scratches and impressions. The frets are still good and show minimal wear. The binding has yellowed and is showing some deterioration but there's no missing pieces or anything like that. There was once a Bigsby fitted to this guitar that has since been removed. The holes on the top have been plugged. The Bigsby tail piece will be included with the guitar should you want to reinstall it. This Greco will also include it's original hard shell case. The guitar is currently set up with heavy gauge strings so you may want to set it up to your liking.
