Gibson's Custom Shop 1964 ES-335 Reissue is a remarkable instrument that exudes quality from bottom to top. This gorgeous guitar faithfully recreates the authentic look, sound, and feel of a genuine '64 ES-335, making it excellent for discerning players and classic guitar collectors alike.
The luthiers in Gibson's Custom Shop meticulously studied and scanned each curve, contour, and taper of the '64 ES-335 to create this reissue, and it plays like a well-loved vintage axe. From its small block fingerboard inlays to its ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic Bridge, this guitar is an old-school rock 'n' roll machine down to the finest detail. It doesn't just look great, though - it also plays exceptionally well. Its SlimTaper '60s "C" shaped neck and sleek Indian Rosewood fingerboard offer effortless playability, and its long neck tenon and hide glue fit give it a sturdy feel.
Gibson paid particular attention to the electronics in this ES-335 to give it a spot-on, period-correct voice. Powering this guitar is a pair of Custombucker Alnico III Humbuckers that churn out impressive vintage-inspired tones. These pickups are incredibly dynamic - play delicately, and you'll channel a pleasantly sweet chime. Dig in hard, and you'll conjure a howl of searing sustain for screaming leads and soaring bends.
And thanks to its CTS 500K audio taper potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors, this guitar's internal signal path is a dead-ringer for that of a '64 ES-335.
Complete with Kluson Double Ring tuners, Top Hat knobs, and numerous other classic appointments, this axe is an outstanding guitar. If you want all that an original 1964 ES-335 has to offer without the vintage markup, you'll love this top-notch reproduction.
