This is a 5 string Tele style electric octave mandolin made in sunny Austin TX.
18.5" scale. Tuned g2, d, a, e, b4.
The body is two piece alder, contoured with a semi-gloss rubbed oil+poly finish. Neck is quarter sawn roasted hard maple with maple fretboard; satin oil finish. Dots are teak; side dots and frets are stainless steel. Bone nut. Bridge is hand fabbed stainless steel polished to almost match chrome hardware. Tuners are Hipshot open gear lockers. There is a small knot on the underside of the body that has been resin stabilized, viewable in a couple of photos(I thought shaping of the body would take it out but there was a bit left remaining). Hand made aluminum string ferrule bar. Stainless steel and chrome hardware elsewhere. Humbucker in the bridge, humbucker sized P90 in the neck. 3 way switching with volume and tone controls. Strap buttons installed before shipping (I keep them off for pics). 6.0 lbs.
If you've been itching for some Kangolin'ish tones but wanted something other than an Rono, Walker, or Mann; this is your chance.
As always, I build these to play for a bit, try new things, different pickups, etc. After a few months I send them out into the big wide world to keep them from piling up. As such these are not factory fresh builds, they've been cuddled and loved on a bit. This build has no horribly overt play wear, this is just a disclaimer that it has been played for a short time indoors.
Upholstered, hard plastic, Pelican style (not Pelican brand) case included.
