Very good condition featuring single cutaway 17 3/8” laminated maple body, two F holes, single bound top and back body edges, original DeArmond Dynasonic pickup in the neck position, one volume control and one tone control with original clear control knobs, multi-ply black plastic pickguard, trapeze tailpiece, adjustable rosewood bridge, set cherry neck with walnut center stripe, bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with segmented small block inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, Epiphone peghead shape, Epiphone logo badge, three per side individual Epiphone Epsilon logo “New York” tuning machines, two metal strap buttons, nickel plated metal hardware, natural “blonde” finish and original brown Tolex covered Lifton hard shell case with pink plush interior.
This 1955 New York made Epiphone Zephyr Regent, serial number 68014, is in very good cosmetic condition. This instrument shows signs of play wear and age throughout including a few areas of binding shrinkage and separation in the waist, cutaway areas and at the fretboard extension end (see photos - this binding has pulled away from the body a little bit but is very solid). There are some nicks and dings around the body edges and throughout and some finish checking. The pickguard is a replacement that was made for the guitar. The wooden bridge unit is a later replacement. A strap button has been added to the body beside the neck heel and a strap button was removed from the side of the neck heel leaving a visible hole. The truss rod nut is a replacement. The truss rod functions perfectly but the new truss rod nut is a bit too long to allow the truss rod cover to fit properly - the original truss rod cover is included. These truss rod nuts seem to be hard to find so this was the only solution to really dial this guitar in to be a dynamite player, which it definitely is. If you could find an original truss rod nut, it would fit right on - no modifications had to be made to install the current one.
The neck profile on this guitar is a chunky rounded V shape with a 1 11/16” nut width (25 1/2” scale). The frets have been professionally dressed and are in great shape. A new bone nut was made for the guitar and it has been set up with a set of .12 flat wound strings. This big Epiphone plays exceptional up and down the fingerboard. The original electronics are in great working order and the original DeArmond Dynasonic pickup sounds incredible! This Epiphone is a truly outstanding Jazz guitar but also handles blues, Motown and old hillbilly stuff with ease. This guitar is housed in its original brown Lifton hard shell case and would make a very fine addition for any guitar player. 7lb even.
