Ludwig - Carmine Appice's Jeff Beck, BBA Era 22" 3 Ply Bass Drum, Authenticated!

From the Carmine Appice Collection at Donn Bennett’s Drum Vault in Seattle, WA.

It’s impossible to adequately describe Carmine’s massive impact on the drum world. He redefined rock drumming with his innovative playing with Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck Bogart and Appice, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osborne, Edgar Winter, Ted Nugent and more. He literally “wrote the book” on rock drumming with his “Realistic Rock” drum method, the best selling rock drum book of all time. He introduced the rock drum world to China cymbals and gongs that are now commonplace on the modern drum set. Carmine is without a doubt, one of the most influential and innovative drummers of our time.

We've just acquired a huge collection of drum gear directly from Carmine Appice. This is just one piece of the collection currently available here at Donn Bennett’s Drum Vault.

This 1973 22x14" Ludwig bass drum in Walnut Thermo-Gloss finish was part of Carmine Appice's complete Octa-Plus set. This set featured 2 sets of bass drums as he preferred 22" basses for recording and 24" basses for live performances. The set using this 22" bass drum was used most notably recording the 1973 Beck, Bogart, Appice album with Jeff Beck and Tim Bogart.

The drum is in excellent condition however shows obvious signs of wear. The drum has 1/4" arched spurs and is finished on the inside in Ludwig's Grey "Granitone" paint. The tom mount receiver, batter side hoop and T-rods/claws have been removed and are missing.

COA signed by Carmine Appice. Carmine Appice is one of the most innovative and influential rock drummers of all time. He used this drum in the early stages of his drumming career that has spanned 7 decades.
