"Silvertone" 1484 Clone By Rockometer 2014 Black / Silver PRICE DROP!

PRICE DROP! AUCTION HAS BEEN CHANGED TO BUY IT NOW OR BEST OFFER! Photos are updated too. This is a "Silvertone" 1484 "clone" combo, built using MOJO parts. All parts are brand new: carbon comp resistors(except in power supply), MOJO dijoncaps in pre-amp and phase inverter, Mallory 150, Orange drop and silver mica in tone circuit, JJ electrolytics for power supply, Alpha pots, Cliff jacks, cloth covered wire and MOJO face and back plates. Tubes are new, matched TAD GE Style 6L6W/GC-STR short bottle, an NOS 6FQ7 Phase Inverter and JJ 12AX7 preamp tubes, PT is Marshall style 50 watt, output transformer is MOJO 1484 repro, with 4 & 8 ohm taps, and a MOJO chassis and Belton tube sockets. Cabinet is an 18 watt style 2x10, with genuine Marshall checkerboard grill cloth, built to correct vintage specs, with black levant tolex, piping is silver, handle is chrome. Cab was built by me and is leftover from when I was making Marshall style combo cabs. Speakers are Celestion G10M Greenbacks, with maybe 1 hour play on them, and sound great.

I have A/B'd this amp with an original through a Silvertone 2x12 cab with reissue Jensen C12Q's, using the same tubes(NOS 5881 power tubes) in the same positions. At full volume, they sound very close, with the clone having more clean headroom due to higher output, it is louder than an original too, but not by a lot. Volume and tone pots are audio, letting you dial in a clean tone easier than the original, which used linear pots. Amp is biased for 38 watts plate dissipation.

THIS CIRCUIT IS NOT AN EXACT CLONE: The original had a totally different power supply with fixed bias, and much lower voltage to the screens. The clone has a power supply almost identical to a 50 watt Plexi, with a fixed, adjustable bias. There is also no reverb or tremolo circuit. The rest of the circuit is the same as channel 2 on the original, except the original used ceramic caps on the volume and tone controls, this uses Mallory, Orange Drop and Silver Mica for those. Channel 1 on the original also had a sort of negative feedback on the preamp, I tried it and did not like it, so it was removed. I used the short bottle 6L6's, as that is the style they originally came with. I probably have some good, old, used Silvertone branded 12AX7's if you want them too. The OT has 4 & 8 ohm taps, allowing a use of more speaker/cab types than original.

IF YOU WOULD PREFER THE AMP IN A HEAD CAB, I CAN DO THAT WITH ORIGINAL LOOKING SILVERTONE STYLE TOLEX, LOOK AT PHOTOS FOR SAMPLE. Chassis also fits a standard Marshall style head cab, I also have a few of those leftover and can install the chassis in one if you prefer. Contact me for the change. Sorry, but the Silvertone style tolex does not photo well with me taking pictures.

 I will warranty this amp for 2 years against defects, tubes,speakers, cabinet and abuse not included. The cab has a few very light scuffs from moving this year, they are almost unnoticeable. Without the speakers, I'll take $150 off the Buy It Now Price, but they sound great. I may also have a 1x12 baffle board if you prefer. Contact me.
