About This Listing

Here is a clean and unique set of 60's Slingerland drums, sized 12x22", 9x13", 12x15", and 5x14". These are all finished in matching original red/silver duco, which is a rare color combination. Looking at the 1964 catalogue, this set appears to have the bass drum and snare drum from the 8N Swingster outfit, while the toms appear to be from a 74N Stage Band outfit! These drums match perfectly and exhibit very light wear with the exception of some deeper cosmetic finish splits near the center cymbal arm post mount on the top of the bass drum. This does not go through the shell and is limited to surface wear. The bass drum is also missing about a foot of silver sparkle inlay on each hoop, and some inlay is darker and closer to ginger sparkle in hue - check our photos to see this in detail. Push-button floor tom brackets are clean and functional on the 15", and the rest of the chrome on this set is also in phenomenal working condition! Internal tone controls are present and functional, bearing edges and interiors are in good shape with nothing out of the ordinary to report. Original bass drum spurs are not present on this set, so we are including a set of clip-on Danmar spurs with a couple pieces of felt to protect the hoops - despite the notes on the inlays, these hoops are in good shape with lighter cosmetic wear than we'd expect from brightly painted vintage hoop. This will make a great unique set for a Slingerland fan, and its single tension kick might just make you rethink the capabilities of single tension bass drums - this one sings! We will have a video demo posted soon.

Steve’s notes: This is a very cool and unique set that would be great for gigging or studio work. The red/silver/red duco finish is rarely seen, and the set differs a bit from the typical Stage Band set. This set has a cool 12x22 single tension bass drum which is rarely seen, rather than a 14x22. (The rest of the kit is standard double tension). And, the snare is very cool with single flange rims. These two drums would be from the Swingster outfit. The 9x13 and 12x15 Stage Band toms work really nicely together, and sonically they blend beautifully with the 22” bass and the snare.
