Here's one you don't see everyday: Gibson EM-200 Solidbody Electric Mandolin. Like many of the early 1956 models, this one has no serial #. The Centralab pot codes date to 1955 (134522) and includes the original Cornell-Dubilier Grey Tiger tone capacitor. Overall, the instrument looks outstanding. The original nitro lacquer shows a good amount of finish checking, as well as a few points of wear, chips in the finish. The majority of the instrument looks very clean regardless of these noted wear points. There are no points of structural damage, this thing is SOLID!
The is a portion of the smaller, bass side scroll that has broken off. This could be restored, and doesn't affect the overall structural integrity. This has some fretwear on the top 3 frets, but still plays great with no noticeable issues. The intonation, action and overall playability are excellent. The tone is loud and bright, and rings loud before even plugging in. No buzzes or dead spots. The instrument is all-original, including the pots, caps, backplate, bridge, tailpiece, pickup, knobs, pickguard and tuning machines. All electronics work perfectly, with no noise or scratchiness, and the 4-Pole P90 pickup is just plain cool! The original Lifton hardshell case in EXCELLENT condition is included!
