Up for sale we have a gorgeous 1950's Gibson EM-150 Electric Mandolin with original hardshell case in excellent used condition and perfect working order. Made in Kalamazoo, MI, USA. The instrument has a beautifully aged patina throughout with a deep rich Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish. It shows light cosmetic wear throughout with small dings, dents, and scuffs in the finish as well as a good amount of lacquer checking on both the body and the neck. There is a small hairline crack extending about 1" out from the output jack (please see photo). It appears quite stable with no flex but is something to be aware of with the instrument plugged in. All parts original to the instrument to the best of our knowledge. The EM-150 features a fully hollow body, Spruce top with F-holes, bound Mahogany sides and a figured Maple back, black 4-ply pickguard (b/w/b/w), adjustable compensated Brazilian Rosewood bridge and a "Dog Ear" P-90 single coil pickup with controls for volume and tone. The solid Mahogany neck features a bound 22-fret Brazilan Rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlaid fret markers. The neck joins the body at the twelfth fret and features a hard-V shape profile measuring .830" deep at the first fret and 1.33" deep at the ninth fret. Width at the nut measures 1 1/4". The original small frets are present and show minimal play wear with lots of life left. Total length of the mandolin is 25 3/4" and weighs in at 2 lbs. 8.5 oz.
