"Something's on my mind, it's been for quite some time..." For sale here is the classic parlor guitar: a Stella. This one was made in the early to mid 1960s, and it is in astounding players condition -- the action is remarkably low for a guitar of this age.
The pickup addition is a little pet project of mine, I have made probably over a hundred of these electrified vintage parlors at this point. Recently I learned that Billie Joe Armstrong recorded the last song on Dookie, "F.O.D.", with a Harmony Stella, see the Reverb listing here: https://reverb.com/item/18308797-harmony-stella-parlour-acoustic-guitar-used-on-f-o-d-owned-by-billie-joe-armstrong-of-green-day
This got me wanting to do a "FOD" homage Stella, and this is that result. Not only does it capture the aesthetic of the song, but it also nails the tone the song has. The 1990s Ibanez humbucker is perfect for all your "F*** off, Mom and Dad" pop punk masterpieces.
This one is in truly astounding shape. It has pretty incredibly low action and plays great.
(See pics for full cosmetic details)I really can't think of a single issue or downside. This is a fun example of my electrified parlor!
As always I oiled the board, changed the strings, polished the finish and tweaked the set up.
This guitar is proudly strung with Stringjoy Custom Guitar Strings, made right here in Nashville, TN. These old girls were not meant to handle large amounts of string tension, so getting extra light gauge strings on your first string change is CRUCIAL. I recommend .10-.50.
As with all of my pre-1980 acoustic guitars without adjustable truss rods, this guitar is being sold "as is" regardless of condition.
(See my shop policies for more information.) I pack my guitars up tight and insure every package for the full purchase amount.
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
