What makes this guitar special: Made for only a brief period of time in the early ‘70s, these English made Hayman guitars and basses have developed somewhat of a cult following. Although they manufactured three different guitar models in the same era, the 4040 is the only bass offering they  made. The construction is bulletproof-a solid slab of ash, with a hidden vibrasonic chamber beneath the pickups for added resonance and tonal clarity, paired with a one piece maple neck. The SuperFlux pickups have a very pleasing tone to them, somewhere between a Precision Bass and a classic Rickenbacker thump, and have easily adjustable pole pieces for dialing in output levels. Professionally setup by the experts at Cream City Music, this unique piece will arrive ready to play.

Cosmetic condition: Used but not abused, with typical playwear throughout-various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, chips, and scuffs, with ample weather checking. The frets are pretty well worn, and there is a slight bow in the neck. As a result, the bass frets out at and above the 15th fret. The original pickup cover is not included.

Body: Solid ash body in natural finish with die-cast bridge with individually adjustable saddles. Clear plexi pickguard and engraved metal control plate.

Weight: 10 lb, 8 oz

Neck: D-shaped solid maple neck with white side dots and black dot inlays. Bound maple fingerboard is in good shape. Frets show wear consistent with age and there is a slight bow in the neck, so it does fret out beginning at the 15th fret. Wide paddle headstock with transparent plexi “H” logo. Original open gear tuners function perfectly. Truss rod works, and the instrument plays beautifully up to the 15th fret or so.

Electronics: SuperFlux split single coil pickups with 3-way pickup selector switch and silver-capped knobs, 1x tone, 1x volume.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
