This bass is a 2ND, stamped as such on the side of the body beneath the fold-out leg rest, sold without factory warranty. This designation means the bass has a minor cosmetic blemish.  However, it is a completely playable instrument with no sacrifice of tone, structure, or playability. This particular bass has a tiny scuff on the top against the bridge and a soft scuff on the edge of the body. There are three scratches in the finish on the treble edge of the fretboard between the second and third frets and there are a couple of even softer imperfections on the bass side of the neck around the fifth and sixth frets. These blemishes are not perceptible to the hand when playing the instrument. I have included close-up photos of all imperfections. Aside from what I have described, this bass is in flawless condition.
This Steinberger has received a thorough professional setup. It has an excellent neck and plays very nicely across all five strings and all 24 frets. With magnetic and piezo pickup options blendable to taste (and even internal trim pots for fine-tuning the balance of the piezo pickup between high and low strings), this bass is suited for the player who wants to tweak the perfect tone and performance out of their instrument.
