A Vintage Kay Brand mandolin with solid spruce top maple back and sides, A-style body and a cherry sunburst finish.
This is the Kay K-73 mandolin model. K73 models were built from 1939-1952. This one is ink stamped inside 46-- for 1946. There is a small 3 "digit number illegibly stamped inside also--- the last digit which is either a 3--a 5.. or an 8....not helpful huh?
To the details--
All original. The tuning knobs are on their last leg... though i tuned the Mando to pitch without the knobs crumbling.....
The neck is straight with just the right amount of relief for good playing..
As pics indicate it is in very good condition but for a small crack - left side near f-hole [see pic closeup].
Look around and you will see others of this era and model.. but they are either "for repair or parts" or "restored"---and still not to this high level of playability and appearance.
Sorry no case but I will pack well and securely for shipping.
I will answer any reasonable questions.
