Vintage Venetian Style 1950's Kay / Old Kraftsman Mandolin
This mandolin is a great surviver and is in nice shape with one possible issue. In photo 10, I point to the area under the strings and below the neck where there is a slight depression in the soundboard. The area I’m talking about is about a 3” radius and the depression is approx 3/16” lower than it should be (1/4” at its deepest point). The mandolin has a bridge that is original and close to being functional - it needs additional spacers or a new height adjuster in order to play
The mandolin has a very straight neck and should be a fine player with just a little effort. Still, I'm calling the mandolin non-functioning.
The heel /neck joint is surprising solid and the overall condition is very good. The fret board is nice - note the hand wear behind the neck at the first fret. The finish is in nice shape - just slight checking around the sides. It comes with I believe is the original chipboard case. I placed new aftermarket tuners on it - but never did anything else.
