1934/35 National Duolian 14-fret Metal Body Resonator!
This is the quintessential Delta Blues machine. It has the V-shaped round neck and has been heavily played and worn-in, but it's not abused... just loved! There is generous finish wear all over from 86 years of playing. The pictures are from all over the guitar, so it is very accurately portrayed, from a visual perspective.
It has had a neck reset at some point (probably in the last 20 years) and is set-up and ready to play finger-style, or slide. I can play Duane Allman's "Little Martha" in Open D with ease, and then put on a slide and play "As The Crow Flies" by Rory Gallagher and the action is ideal for both. The action is perfect. The 14-fret body makes it much easier to hit the octaves when playing bottleneck slide.
The inner resonator cone and biscuit bridge assembly is newer. I'm not sure which upgrade model it is, but it's LOUD, crisp and has the perfect tone. The old spiral spun cone is gone. The cone is smooth and shiny. You can get originals, but the newer replacements are much better, in my opinion. Some of the screws on the coverplate are replacements, but most of these have if they've been played a lot. The tuners appear to be original, as does the nut, but it is possible they could have been changed. If they were, they were changed with very old parts!
The case is a newer hardshell case, with the key attached to the handle. I'm not sure who made the case. It looks like it's from the 70's, but it's a fairly stout hardshell case.
These originals put the reissue models to shame. Whether it's a National or a Dobro, the Depression-era models cut the heads off of any that were made later on.
Please ask any and all questions you might have before you buy it.
