Up for sale, a 1939 Gibson "Century of Progress" vintage acoustic guitar in very good condition. An extremely rare Gibson model, it was crafted in extremely small quantities and dressed to impress, with a pearloid fretboard and other fancy appointments. These features were meant to showcase and commemorate the Century of Progress international exhibition in Chicago. The Worlds Fair was the perfect platform for a "modern" steel string guitar that had both an exquisite tone and stylish good looks. (Yes, I copied a lot of this from another seller's listing.... what?! It still applies here for this guitar. So what?! Who cares?! OK, back to copying words...)
This is a prime example that will satisfy discerning collectors and serious players alike. All of the necessary maintenance and restoration due a guitar of this vintage has been done to ensure optimal playability.
(then the other seller goes more into detail of their exact guitar and to be honest gets a little flowery and waxes on about details that don't apply as much here)
So you are either looking at this and know what this is and are like, "Damn!"....or you are looking at this saying softly to yourself...so softly that your significant other can't hear you , "Holy crap! What a beautiful limited edition 1939 pre-war Gibson with pearloid fretboard and a sturdy case and all sorts of fancy details that Jeff Tweedy owned and loved for years! How can I buy this while keeping this purchase secret from my beautiful/handsome loving significant other so he/she won't see what a weak and obsessed guitar nerd and/or Wilco fan I am?! Gah! Help Obi-Wan Kenobi! You're my only hope!" (Obi-Wan in this scenario is the guy you know down the block who lends you money from time to time at a small percent return when you either get in over your head with your office Fantasy Football betting or that time you went in on buying what you thought was a race horse with a bunch of your drinking buddies and then you woke up the next morning and realized it was a mule).
So which are you?
You bet this guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Jeff Tweedy.
