Here we have a new for 2021 Dean Gordan Guitars Virtus in Pentland Green. The same color you would find on the Aston Martin Victor. The guitars finish and appointments all go along with this theme. If you know Dean, you know he loves high-end cars and retro design. He melds both of these subjects together into his guitars seamlessly.

All the details on this instrument are made from materials you would find in the Aston Martin Victor. Detailed appointments are made from materials such as aircraft grade aluminum, some of which has been anodized black, leather and carbon fiber. You can see the carbon fiber around the toggle switch as well as the large carbon fiber back plate. Inside the guitar, the back of the pots and toggle switch, have been given this same finish with a clean, highly polished look. The attention to detail on this build is exceptional and its just as fun to play as it is to look at.

This is a very well balanced and comfortable guitar seated or standing, especially with the leather wrapped lower horn. It holds the guitar precisely in place, without ever feeling like the instrument's slipping; often a concern with high gloss finished wooden lower bouts. The guitars neck is a nice and fast, med Modern C shape. Unlike many modern C's, it doesn't feel too thin in any area. It has substance and grace to its shoulders and a great unrestricted feel up and down the neck with its matte nitro finish.

Like some past Vertus models, we were blown away by how loud and resonant this instrument was, before even plugging it in. The guitar truly has something special going for it in that arena. The notes and harmonics leap off the fretboard with a bloom and great sustain. The same goes for when it's plugged into an amp. The custom hand-wound Bare Knuckle Abraxes Humbuckers are perfect in this build. They were hand wound by Bare Knuckle founder and owner Tim Mills, which is not so common anymore in the company. They can certainly be aggressive when overdriven, but always retain a nice shimmer both clean or dirty, with great note separation. They pickup the whole range of the instrument. Players of all styles will appreciate it's easy playability and quick attack. Clean players will enjoy a rich warm tonality with lots of dynamics. Players who tend to play heavier styles such as Metal, will find it to be the perfect shredding axe.
