Dean Gordon had worked many years in the Chelsea NY area of NYC as a repair tech and custom guitar builder. A few years ago he began building T-Style instruments made from reclaimed timbres that are sourced from the famous Chelsea Hotel. As you’re probably aware, the Chelsea Hotel has more historic significance than we can possibly fit into a single guitar description.
The building was built between 1883 and 1885 and opened to the public in 1885. When first built it was the tallest building in NYC. Many of the worlds most famous celebrities and musicians from the likes of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Andy Warhol and Mark Twain, just to name a few have resided there over the course of their careers.
The body of this particular guitar is made from Civil war era pine sourced from the Chelsea. This LTD Edition Chelsea Hotelecaster in particular has a wonderfully resonant and woody voice full of harmonic complexities that are hard to find in a brand new guitar.
