About This Listing
For sale is a fully restored Realistic QTA-751 Quadraphonic AM/FM receiver that tests out to around 25WPC x 4 (rated at 100W output total from all four channels into four 8 Ohm speakers). This is a Fostex built unit from 1974 and also of course has stereo playback capability as well. This unit uses a quad decoding IC which provides consistent quad functionality regardless of the type of input used. After the thorough restoration (discussed below), all features and functions work perfectly and this is really a great sounding little receiver on all inputs.
The restoration consisted first of tearing the entire unit down and replacing every single electrolytic and tantalum capacitor throughout with high temperature, long life modern capacitors. Then every single transistor throughout the preamp, quadraphonic, phono stage and power supply were replaced as well with modern higher performance, lower noise transistors which provide more consistent performance with a lower noise floor. The power amps had all of the input differential transistors replaced as well as any other known troublesome component types. Next the entire unit is detailed inside and out, all controls thoroughly cleaned and all lighting is replaced with great looking LEDs which never need to be changed. Next the unit is brought up, the power amp is biased, the tuner is realigned on AM, FM and MPX and all features and functions are verified for functionality. Next the unit is burned in both on the bench and then in our system to ensure no long-term issues show up.
The receiver will be shipped carefully so it arrives as it left here.
