About This Listing

Little bit of a mystery this one - so please read on...

Camac Pro Guitar G1000.

Camac was a French company that made (and still makes) Harps and flutes etc. In the 1980s approx they had some own brand guitars made in Japan and some by Eko in Italy according to Fetish Guitars (Search 'fetish guitars Camac'.) They also say Camac was a German 'label' but Camac is a French company.

This guitar looks and feels very much more Japanese than Italian, I've had some Italian made Eko solid body guitars but I think this one was made by Matsumoko in the 1980s and is pretty rare. It features a through neck with body wings and is very 1980s Westone , Aria and BC Rich NJ series in style and appearance.

When we bought this guitar in , it was just a shell except for the string through ferrules and the tuners. There were drilled holes for the pickup surrounds and bridge and the strap buttons were installed as you see now but nothing else. There was no electrics, or bridge installed and it had never had a backplate fitted as there were no screw holes and no truss rod cover.

So, as mentioned a bit of a mystery as it does have scuffs and scrapes, a few indents and dings so we aren't sure if it was never finished or half finished and then stripped back or what really.

We got it up and running, installed two generic black humbuckers ( I think they were from a Mexican Fender), an aftermarket bridge which required a small plate to raise it up a bit , my repairman completely rewired it using pre used parts and installed the truss rod cover and made a jack socket plate, back plate and some pre owned amber knobs. The bridge was the corretc string spacing so no modification was needed except its slightly raised on a black plate.

I can find several examples of Camac guitars on the web but not one the same as this one except one on a couple of fairly uninformative youtube videos  - search youtube for 'pro camac' and 'presentazione camac' .

It plays nicely and sounds good the action is low and the strings are new 10s but you may wish to tweak the set up once received.

As mentioned it is a bit of a mystery, used but not used, and pretty rare overall.

Any solid info welcome...
