OLD MAN JENKINS?!?!

You know, I am about to hit five years of running this shop and I was beginning to think I had seen it all.....NOPE. Just look at this thing.

This is an early build from Phantom Guitarworks. They pretty much own the market on funky stick guitars and basses and Vox teardrop copies. This one was an early build from them, build either in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

The bass plays GREAT. The truss rod was fully adjustable, so I was able to do a full set up. The construction is neck-through, so it sounds big too. It has a Double J-Bass style pickup and the switch taps the top coil so you can do single or dual coil.

The bass weighs 5 lbs 15 oz. It is a very peculiar 31" scale. I guess that technically makes it a short scale, but just like slightly longer than standard short scale.

The case is also amazing. Heavy duty with rad stickers from the early 1990s and a lush wool lining. The bass also comes with a heavy duty rubber strap and strap locks. This thing is super rare, I have yet to find another one like it online. I have seen others with similar color schemes, etc, but this is the only one like this I have been able to find.

(NOW: since we have gotten through the technical specs, please indulge me while I wildly speculate. So, I noticed the case has a "Lollapalooza Village Days Performer 1993" backstage pass sticker on it. So, I googled the 1993 Lollapalooza Village Days line up:

Dinosaur Jr.
Arrested Development
Fishbone
Alice In Chains
Tool
Rage Against The Machine
Primus

Now, there is a chance that is just a sticker that someone printed and put on a case....or maybe this bass was a travel model for one of these famous touring bassists. We may never know for sure, but it was cool to think about.)

As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, oiled the board, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action low and smooth. This bass comes with a custom HSC, and I pack all my guitars tight and insure every package for the full purchase amount. Every time.

Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gear heads!
